PLP Labs collaborated with Light Earth Designs to produce a comprehensive housing replacement strategy for Ascension Island. The report provided a detailed plan to design, construct, and deliver environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient homes on Ascension Island. As part of the research, the team reviewed existing housing performance, infrastructure, logistics, and alternate site options on the island. Key strategic outcomes included defining design and performance requirements, engaging with UK manufacturers to test materials and costs, and developing a phased logistics plan for transport and installation. The report recommendations provided low carbon and durable construction solutions, procurement model, and maintenance strategies. The final deliverable proposed design, project programme, budget, and risk assessment to guide decision-making and enable successful project delivery.
